I vaguely remember reading this short story back in the early 80's.

The protagonist is telling about an intergalactic war where his side had far superior technology and was winning, but they bought into NEWER technology, which failed and set them back.  So they bought even newer tech, lost again, and repeated this cycle until they lost the war.  It ends with the protagonist in jail, and his cellmate is the man who continually sold the new, updated, and ultimately unsuccessful technology.  Sort of like succeeding generations of today's computer tech.

So, any help finding this story's name/author would be greatly appreciated.

I too have read this story in about 1967 at Bradley University and would like the title and author of the work.

After a long while of waiting the main character jumps up and exclaims that they had all been scammed, and storms out of the barn. As he does so, there is a bright flash from inside the barn, and when he turns a looks, he sees pristene rolling countrysides. When t...

I read a sci fi short story in grade school back in 1974, It was about a small girl in a future society that was completely dehumanized. They had to get around in "Hoveround" type mobile chairs and could not walk on there own, They ate tasteless food sticks for the nutrition only and everything was monitored by police type robots, also there was no place on Earth that was not covered by buildings or concrete. Does anyone no the name or author of this story?

Its about this house that cooks breakfast and then cleans up afters it finished and it does the dishes and vacuums, but in the end we discover that no one is living in the house.
